I need to take a moment to rave about one of my favorite winter brands. Alps & Meters is winter sport/skiwear company that I have so much love and respect for. They have, with absolute perfection, married style, quality, and function.
When I look around the lift line at the base of the mountain, I usually see two types of skiwear: the typical snow pants and jacket in bright or boring colors, or the fancy tight fitting, fur trimmed outfit with aviator sunglasses that was really built just to look good while you “aprés ski”, and looks rather silly otherwise.
So it was music to my soul to find a skiwear brand that was so committed to making really beautiful, high quality, functional-looking ski clothes! There is nothing pretentious about the clothes, and all the pieces are seem to be inspired by all the beautiful vintage snow outfits you see in old photos of Switzerland in the wintertime.
Instead of a nylon/manmade materials traditionally found on snow gear, Alps & Meters chose to go in a more natural direction, using wool, leather, and waxed cotton. Wool is naturally water resistant, and very warm; I never got cold wearing my jacket on the slopes!
