CAMPING AT HUTTOPIA - White Mountains
NEW HAMPSHIRE CAMPING GUIDE | Guys, I am back to traveling, and it feels so amazing! Michelle and Ashleigh, my dear friends, and I, pack up and headed up north to the White Mountains for a girls’ weekend camping trip to Huttopia! Huttopia is an incredible campground, on a lake, with amazing glamping tents, cute cabins, a swimming pool, food truck, and more! Their US locations are in Maine and New Hampshire, and they also have several in Canada and France!
Our tent was amazing. It sleeps 5 people (4 adults), and even sported a bathroom and kitchenette. Camping has never been easier, let me tell you! Every site has a picnic table and fire pit, which we spent out evenings around, and cooked a delicious pancake breakfast over our first morning.
DAY ONE
Day one was mountain day. We checked into our tent and settled in before booking it to the nearest mountain for a sunset hike. Huttopia is situated only 20 minutes away from the trailheads for Mount Chocorua, and I cannot recommend this hike more. We started on the Champney Falls Trailhead, and it was a great hike. We were on summit within a couple hours, just as the sun was beginning to set over the White Mountains. After that it was a mad scramble to start our descent before darkness completely set it. It was pitched black about halfway down, and we were happy to have our headlamps and flashlights on hand to guide the way. After weaving our way through rocks, moths, and endless toads, we made it to the parking lot, where we shut off our lights, laid down on our backs, and watched the stars, pointing out all the constellations we knew. I mean…I couldn’t ask for a more perfect first day.
DAY TWO
Day two was all about water fun. We made pancakes over the fire, then headed down to the lake with our kayak and paddle board for some swim time. At Huttopia they have canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards you can rent by hour, or by half day, if you need to! We paddled out to the middle of the lake, where we could look back over the campsite with views of Mount Chocorua rising in the backdrop. It was beautiful! We spent a good hour swimming and diving off the paddle board before we noticed rain moving in from atop the mountain. We started back to shore as the wind picked up, and before we knew it we were caught in a downpour, fighting out way against the raging gusts. It was an adventure, and we got back to the beach unscathed.
Once the storm had subsided, we scarfed town a quick lunch and hopped in the car for our next adventure. About 50 minutes from the camp is the beautiful Emerald Pool. Its about a 20 minute hike into the woods from the parking lot, and well worth it! The beautiful green pool is super deep, which means you can cliff jump off the rocks and into the freezing cold water! It was so much fun, and we were all glad we made the jump!
Dinner was back at Huttopia at their airstream trailer food truck. Inside they hand make every pizza, and even have a wood fire oven to cook them in! Our food was delicious, and we went back to our tent with full bellies and hearts from the amazing day!
DAY THREE
Day three made us sad to say goodbye…but not without a bit of fun first! After a crepe and smoothie breakfast at the food truck, we were back on the lake for a final swim. I will always pick a lake over the ocean, a lake is always one of my favorite places to be!
We sadly packed up and bid adieu to the beautiful Huttopia. It was an incredible stay!
Next we drove about 25 minutes to North Conway, an amazing old town full of shops, cafes, and history. We had a few treats at my favorite coffee shop, the Metropolitan Coffeehouse, walked around the old train depot, and gathered some souvenirs from the 5 and Dime. It was a great ending to an even more amazing trip!
Thank you Huttopia for the fabulous stay! See more about Huttopia White Mountains here.
