Creating Cozy Vibes
I didn’t make any crazy huge resolutions for the New Year…mostly they were just goals of working on creating a home, and making the most out of the living situations I am in, etc. However, a phrase that has come up in my mind time and time again has been “cozy vibes only”.
As I work on styling and decorating our new, little apartment, the phrase runs through my head…cozy vibes only. When I figure out what I am going to wear each day, and look through the stacks of sweaters and hangers full of coats, I find myself gravitating towards…cozy vibes only. Whenever I have a day at home, I am always throwing open the shades to let in natural light, turning on the space heater, cozying up with a blanket, and pouring myself a hot chocolate…all of which scream cozy vibes. It’s a theme that is starting to settle into my life as I am on this journey of being a homemake and wife.
So, what are my recommendations for creating a cozy life, especially during the cold winter months of gloomy days and long nights? Let me name a few steps you can take to make hygge in your home.
HOW TO CREATE A COZY LIFE
- Fill your home with cozy textures, like chunky blankets, sheepskin rugs, shearling, fleece, etc. -
- Make yourself a cozy mug of tea or hot chocolate while you do computer work, watch a movie, or even scroll -
- Let in natural light during the day; throw open those curtains! -
- Incorporate cute chunky sweaters and cardigans into your loungewear looks -
- Once dark, try using only lamps and candles for indoor lights…avoid harsh overhead lighting -
- Cook more at home, especially comfort food -
- Get out into the cold for exercise, it will make coming inside afterwards so cozy and magical! -
- Watch wintery movies…anything with snow or ski scenes! -
- Invite friends over for intimate dinner parties and game nights -
- Always wear cozy slippers when at home -
These are just a few of the things I have been doing to create a cozy atmosphere in my home. If there is something you love to do to bring cozy into your life, let me know in the comments, I would love to hear all about it!
