NANTUCKET ISLAND

NANTUCKET TRAVEL GUIDE | Nantucket island is such a simple, peaceful place. A couple weeks ago I headed out with my awesome mom, since we both consider it such a favorite! We stayed at The Nantucket Hotel & Resort, one of the best places to stay on ACK, and my personal fav.

You won’t find friendlier staff at any place on the island, I can assure you! They are eager to show you the ropes, help you with whatever you need, and have a good laugh with you about anything! We enjoyed toe dipping in the pool, exploring the yoga studio and workout club, eating dinner and breakfasts at the hotel’s restaurant, Breeze, listening to live fiddle music on the front porch, and roasting s’mores over the fire pit! Now tell me that doesn’t sound like the best place to stay? Haha!

We stuck with a simple agenda for this trip. We wandered through town, and popped into some favorite stores, including Murray’s Toggery, where you can find anything in the famous Nantucket red! Lemon Press, a new cafe in town, had killer smoothies, which we enjoyed thoroughly. We climbed the Congregational Church steeple, for an amazing view of the town, harbor, and Brant Point Lighthouse.

One day we rented bicycles and cruised down to Steps Beach, on the west side of town. It was right at sunset, and we nearly had the beach to ourselves. There were seashells and the brightest green seaweed washed up along shore, and we collected a few shells to bring home.

Our last day we knew a tropical storm was coming, so we planned for a 2:45 fairy crossing, rather than the 5:00, our usual. The wind slowly started picking up, and sandbags began appearing outside of business. We gabbed some chocolate peanut butter cookie dough ice cream from Juice Bar just as the droplets began to fall. The whaling museum was where we ran for cover, and we spent our last 45 minutes admiring whale skeletons, scrimshaw, and discussing candle making with the resident candle maker.

At 2:45 we said goodbye to the island and headed on the choppy seas toward Cape Cod. When we got off the ferry, we were informed it was the last ferry, for possibly the next two days because of the storm! What an adventure!

It was such a quick and memorable trip! A huge thanks to the amazing Nantucket Hotel for the wonderful time!
