Wedding Planning Journal: Entry no.1

Let the craziness of wedding planning begin! Seriously, though, I am so excited for this season of life when I get to plan my wedding, something I have always dreamed of and been excited about since I was a little girl. My vision of the wedding may have changed over the years, but the excitement of planning it hasn’t. I am so grateful and blessed to be experiencing this beautiful time, and I look forward to it all with joy, especially knowing I will be marrying the most incredible man in the world…I am just so happy.

We officially started off the planning of the wedding with wedding dress shopping! It was so surreal to be going into a bridal boutique, knowing I was actually there to look for my own wedding dress! Overwhelming is a good word for it, but overwhelming in a good way. I was able to bring my mom, sister, aunt, and cousin, and they were all so supportive and excited every time I stepped out of the fitting room in a different gown. It was a blessing to have them there supporting me through this process.

I made the decision to shop at Anthropologie’s wedding dress company BHLDN because I know I would be able to order it immediately and get it quickly to start the alterations process. The bridal consultant was the most beautiful soul, constantly gushing about how the dresses looked on me, and how excited she was for me. She was a dream to work with, and made the already amazing experience even more incredible.

I was shocked that the second dress I tried on was the one! I was hoping to find it at BHLDN, but wasn’t holding my breath, since I know finding the right dress can be a process. It felt right the moment I stepped out of the fitting room and all my family got excited seeing it. I’m dying to show it off to the world, but I’m a traditionalist, and I don’t want Joseph to see it before the wedding day, so everything will remain hush-hush for now.

After our time at BHLDN, we headed into Boston to have hot chocolate and pastries at L.A. Burdick on Clarendon Street. It was a lovely end to an absolutely incredible day! I hope and pray the rest of the wedding planning will go as smoothly as the wedding dress process did…and while I know it probably won’t all be smooth sailing, it will still be exciting!
