Wedding Planning Journal: Entry No.2

A wedding date has finally been settled on, and it feels like things are finally switching into high gear when it comes to planning the wedding. A wedding is a huge to-do, and even with as simple as both Joseph and I want it to be, we know it will still be a long and complicated process. The first big step for me was getting organized.

I tend to keep lists and things I have to accomplish in my head; I hate being a slave to a pad of paper. But!…I know that I have to be organized with it comes to the wedding. I will have business cards, and budget lists, and photo inspirations, and phone numbers, and dates, and times, and guest names…and the list goes on and on. No matter how skilled I try to be at keeping things in my head, planning a wedding is not the time and place for that. So the very first thing I did to get organized was buy a wedding planner. While my wedding planner is more of a pad of paper in a folder, it’s a good start for me. I just need a place where I keep everything wedding related all in one spot. So after a quick search on Amazon, and one click, I had a leather binder with pockets and notepad on my doorstep two days later, all ready to go!

The next step was starting the planning. My mom and I sat down with hot chocolate and pastries at L.A. Burdick in Walpole NH and started to make the plans. We made list after list, from “Ongoing To Do List” to “Vendors” to “Food”, etc. etc. It felt great to finally get what we needed for the wedding down on paper to I can actually start calling vendors and getting rentals finalized and locations locked in.

I admit, I’m already overwhelmed, but looking forward to the next steps in the process, and will continue to share here on the blog!
