You guys, we just got the best news ever!! We have an amazing housing situation that came up, and we are going to take it! Currently Joseph and I, poor newlyweds that we are, have been bopping around from house sitting gig to house sitting gig, trying to figure out where we are going to eventually live. Housing is few and far between in the are we are in, and SO expensive. We eventually settled on the idea of just buying a trailer and living out of that, so we could save money.

We were so settled on the trailer plan, and were even all set to buy a really nice trailer we found on FB marketplace when suddenly, an apartment situation popped up. It was kind of unexpected, but right under our noses the whole time. Some family of ours have an semi-detached office space, and they suggested the idea of having us convert it into a full apartment and live there! It was such a brilliant thought, and we feel so blessed to have the opportunity.

The space consists of two rooms, one perfect for a bedroom, one perfect for kitchen/living, and a small half bath we will (fingers crossed) be able to add a shower to. The space is tiny and adorable, and I cannot WAIT to put my own touches on it as we slowly convert it to our little home. The beautiful thing about the whole situation is that we will have our own front door, and we are separated from the rest of the house by the garage, so we will feel very independent and the space will feel private! It is a completely unused space currently, and the more I walk around it and look at the layout, the more I feel like it was built 30+ years ago to one day be for us…it's really special, and feels so right.

We am currently in the very VERY early stages of planning, which includes a floorplan, measuring, finding paint swatches, and figuring our layout and pricing. It’s so exciting!

So needless to say, I have been shamelessly pinning inspiration furiously, and perusing the pages of Zara Home and Amazon, dreaming of furniture pieces I definitely can’t afford, but am gaining inspiration from. We are planning to have a pretty strict budget with this renovation, but doing my research so far, I think it is actually very doable! A little Ikea here, a bunch of FB marketplace there, and the whole space will eventually come together.

I decided to link a whole bunch of my favorite home decor items out there that give me the vibes I am hoping to go for in our future apartment. Hopefully this gives your guys a little glimpse into my vision, and is a bit of fun shopping for you in the meantime! Enjoy!
