Sedona, AZ Trip
Have you ever seen the movie “Cars”? I felt as though I had stepped into the desert around Radiator Springs when I saw the beautiful landscape of Sedona, Arizona. Our friends Taylor and Kate have a time-share in Sedona, and they invited Joseph and I to tag along on the ultimate desert mountain biking trip! It was only a 6 hour drive from the Inland Empire, and we both needed the time away, so we jumped on the opportunity!
Sedona feels like another planet, with red rock rising out of the red desert sand. There are trails for walking and riding everywhere, and we had a blast exploring all weekend. Joseph and Taylor, fearless mountain bikers that they are, did the hard Hangover trail, and afterward White Line, which had me white-knuckling while I watched my husband coast along a thin white mineral strip on the side of a several hundred foot cliff…terrifying and exciting all at once!
Kate and I stayed on the much easier and more forgiving Slim Shady trail, which all four of us rode a couple times throughout the trip. It was fun, and we a great place for me to build my skills, and try out different terrain. I really enjoyed the trail and felt a marked improvement from the first day to the next as I figured things out.
We enjoyed some beach time at the river under Cathedral Rock. The swimming hole we was at Crescent Moon Picnic Site, and was a much calmed and more peaceful spot than the extremely popular Slide Rock, which is insane on a Saturday, FYI.
One evening Joseph and I hiked together up Bell Rock to watch the sunset. It was beautiful, adventurous, and romantic…kind of the perfect date! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
The trip was over way too soon, but we both know we want to go back again to do some more riding!
