THE YORKSHIRE DALES
THE YORKSHIRE DALES TRAVEL GUIDE | Since the idea of going to England came up a few years ago, I had been searching for the perfect and most amazing place to stay. My heart settled very quickly on A Corner of Eden, but then the trip got pushed off for a bit, and I wasn’t sure things such as itinerary and timing were going to fall into place well enough to make this place possible. But after a year of yearning to stay there, we came up with a plan, and dove head first, never looking back, and we are so happy we did. It was our favorite stay of the whole trip.
A Corner of Eden is a British countryside dream. It is exactly what you imagine country farm life in England to be. It is a historic, self-catered farmhouse in Ravenstonedale, just toward the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, very close to the Lake District. There are four bedrooms, three baths, a dining room, sitting room, kitchen, and best of all, a good old-fashioned dairy a.k.a cold-storage. Debbie greets your warmly with a smile, a basket of goodies, her homemade bread, and a cake in a tin…very british…very perfect…
One of my favorite parts of the whole farmhouse was the footpath cutting across the land. You just had to slip into a Barbour and wellies, step out of the front door, and right onto the path. It led us through the sheep pastures, and right to the village pub across the the road!
The Fat Lamb Pub, about half a mile from the farmhouse, was the perfect place to cozy up on a drizzly evening. Their beef cobbler with cheddar biscuits were to die for!
We had a wonderful three night stay at our own little piece of British country heaven! I truly hope that I will visit the Yorkshire Dales again one day, because I certainly know where I will be staying!
Thank you Debbie and Richard for the wonderful memories!

TIPS:
- In general, it is a good idea in the U.K. to book a reservation at a pub if there isn’t another option nearby, or if their is a pub you particularly want to eat at. We ran into problems several times having to wait for seats, even though there were many open tables that had “reserved” signs on them.
