STOWE, VT

STOWE, VERMONT TRAVEL GUIDE | I had so much fun spending a day in Stowe! It had been on my bucket list since I had moved to New England 11 years ago, and for some reason or other, I had never gone. Boy was it everything I imagined! From the Swiss fondue to people wandering in town with their ski gear…it was winter sport heaven.

We stopped by Edson Hill, a beautiful hotel in the woods that has their own groomed nordic ski and snowshoe trails. The property was amazing, and the staff at the Nordic center were awesome! They even pointed us to a nearby snowshoe trail, since they didn’t allow dogs on their’s, and we had brought Carson and his friend Poppy along for the trip.

Wiessner Woods Trails was a great network of snowshoe paths, and we met many a snowshoe and x-country skier with their dog. We made it to the sugar shack at the top of the trails, and there they had packed the mail box with a bag of treats for all the puppies that stopped by!

After snowshoeing, we headed into town for lunch at Swiss Fondue by Heinz, an old fashioned Swiss restaurant with delicious fondue.

And we couldn’t leave town without seeing the Von Trapp Family Lodge. The building looked straight out of the Austrian Alps, and the view from the lodge was no less impressive. We wandered the halls, looking at the old photographs of the family and reading about the history.

We didn’t go skiing/snowboarding this time, but that gives me another thing to put on my list for next time I go back!
