MANCHESTER, VT
MANCHESTER, VERMONT TRAVEL GUIDE | Manchester Vermont is a beautiful old town, right out on the middle of nowhere in southern Vermont. But despite its location it is home to several significant things…
I love Manchester, but I especially love it in the fall. The town sits in the midst of beautiful hillsides, covered with trees that turn brilliant colors in October. The south side of town is my favorite. It is peaceful, with beautiful large homes lining the main street, and the gorgeous Equinox hotel sitting in the center. This is offset by the northern side of town, which is bustling with people wandering around all the outlet stores. Some of the highlights of Manchester are:
The Land Rover off-roading Driving School
The Orvis Flagship Store
The Orvis Flyfishing School and Museum
The Robert Todd Lincoln Home and Museum, Hildene
The Equinox Resort
Outlet Mall
Etc.
You would never guess that all of this is in a tiny, rural community such as Manchester…that’s what makes it fun!
I like to get there early in the morning and have breakfast at The Copper Grouse. Then it is poking around shops, the Northshire Bookstore, touring Hildene, and enjoying the beautiful scenery, all the while working up an appetite for lunch, or a delicious dessert at the Equinox Hotel’s Marsh Tavern.
I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful town, and even more highly recommend a visit in mid-October!
